Precision Pistol League
The Capital Area Sportsmen's League(CASL) fields a pistol team in the Central Michigan Rifle and Pistol League. The weekly matches are shot indoor with a .22 caliber pistol at 50 feet. The National Rifle Association precision course of fire and rules govern the event.
The league begins mid-October and runs through the beginning of April. We generally practice at the club on Wednesday nights and compete on Thursdays. Match locations vary based on the seasons schedule and include CASL, Jackson, Ionia, and Lansing.
New shooters to the team are encouraged and welcomed. We are looking for team members aged 14 and up. Beginners are welcome as this league is open to all shooters that can safely keep bullets in the backstop. CASL member is required.
For more information, please contact the team captain, Gordon Elliot at 517-388-5097 or Pistol Director, Steven Slee at caslpistol@gmail.com
Junior Pistol Team
The Capital Area Sportsmen's League is home to the Michigan's Distinguished Junior Pistol Team, a USA Shooting affiliated junior team, providing training, coaching, and competitive experience following the Olympic training path to competitive shooting. This weekly program is open to youth and young adults ages 8 through 20. We welcome all shooters that have a desire to learn, hone, and advance their skills. Your junior athlete will train in International 10-meter Indoor Air Pistol and International 25-meter .22 cal Sport Pistol(50 ft indoor reduced scale targets are used at CASL.)
Our coaching staff is a team of USA Shooting and/or NRA certified coaches, holding multiple qualifications in pistol sports, and numerous State and National competitive titles.
CASL member is not required for this junior program. We have air pistols available. Athletes that progress to .22 caliber will use their personally owned pistols. The team practice starts promptly at 9 am and runs until about noon, normally on Sundays, alternating occasionally to Saturday.

The Plinkers Club
The Plinkers Club meets on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 4:00. On days of nice weather, spring through the fall, we meet on the outdoor range to shoot our favorite firearms and tell our favorite gun stories. During the winter, we dust off our .22 rimfire firearms and move to the indoor range where shooting and storytelling continues.
NRA BASIC PISTOL/PERSONAL PROTECTION COURSE
The goal of the course is to teach you the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely, and provide information on the citizen's right of self defense.
The legal use of deadly force will be covered in detail. The class is 13 total hours and has been accepted by county gun boards as meeting the training requirements for a Carry Concealed Weapons license.
